To measure steam flow, the following types of flow meters can be selected:
Vortex flowmeter: using the Karman vortex principle to measure the volumetric flow rate of steam, it has the advantages of large measurement range, low pressure loss, high accuracy, high reliability, and no movable mechanical parts, with low maintenance. Suitable for most steam conditions, especially when the temperature of the steam pipeline is not greater than 300 degrees, it has a high cost-effectiveness.
Differential pressure flowmeter: Based on the Bernoulli equation and flow continuity equation, the steam flow rate is determined by measuring the differential pressure generated by the throttling device in the steam pipeline. The technology is mature and widely used. Common differential pressure flow meters include orifice flow meters, nozzle flow meters, V-cone flow meters, etc., which are suitable for steam flow measurement that requires high-precision measurement or has complex medium characteristics.
Split rotor steam flow meter: After steam enters the flow meter section, a portion passes through the throttling orifice plate of the main pipeline, and another portion flows through the nozzle through the split pipe and jets onto the impeller, creating torque on the impeller and driving the wheel shaft to rotate. The impeller speed is directly proportional to the flow rate, allowing for the measurement of steam flow rate.
